In 1958, the Cantonment Public School was upgraded to an intermediate level in 1968 under the name C.B. Sir Syed College, Rawalpindi, and then to a degree level in 1972. In 1975, the college wings and the school were divided into two distinct establishments. The Cantonment Board, Rawalpindi, governed C.B. Sir Syed College Rawalpindi till its nationalization on June 1st, 1975.
